The Google Ads Scaling Readiness Checklist
The 50-point gate every ecom account must pass before you double spend, so scale compounds profit instead of multiplying waste.
Who this is for
- Founders ready to step on the gas
- Media buyers inheriting a budget increase
- Brands expanding to new countries or channels
Why this exists
Scaling a broken account just buys more waste, faster. This is the pre-flight checklist that separates accounts that 2x cleanly from accounts that blow up CPA the moment budget moves. Pass the gate first, then scale.
Scaling is a multiplier, not a fix
Everything that is slightly wrong at $30K/month becomes painfully wrong at $60K. Treat any failed item below as a hard blocker. Fix it, then scale. The order matters.
1. Tracking integrity (hard gate, all must pass)
2. Account structure
3. Margin and budget headroom
4. Creative and feed depth
5. Landing page and CRO readiness
Readiness scorecard
Green across all five is the green light. Any red in tracking is an automatic hold.
| Section | Pass bar | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Tracking integrity | 100% (all items) | Stop. Scaling blind multiplies waste. |
| Account structure | 6 of 7 | Fix structure first; budget will leak otherwise. |
| Margin & headroom | 5 of 6 | Model the economics before spending more. |
| Creative & feed | 5 of 6 | Thin assets cap how far you can scale. |
| Landing & CRO | 5 of 6 | More traffic to a leaky page wastes the budget. |
How to use it
Gate, don't guess
Score every section. Tracking integrity is pass/fail for the whole exercise; the rest use the bars above.
Fix reds before touching budget
Resist the urge to scale around a known problem. The problem scales too.
Scale in steps
Once green, raise budget ~20% per week and watch new-customer CPA and true POAS, not dashboard ROAS.
